I spent endless hours online looking for a good tent. This was my first time camping and I was not sure at all what type of tent to buy. There is simply too much to chose from. I was basically looking for a reasonably price 3 season tent with good rain protection. Eureka SUnrise had the best reviews and I decided to go with this one.

We went for 2 nights camping at Acadia National Park in Maine. I tried to put it together myself alone but it was too hard to do it. I had to ask a friend to help me out. WIth 2 persons it is very easy to put up. The feature i liked the best was the 4 windows. It was a bit hot during the day and the cross ventilation kept the tent inside cool. At night it got a bit cold so we zipped the windows and after that it was nice and cozy inside. It did not rain so can’t comment on that aspect. It was easy to fold it and took a lot less time. The poles are a little heavy so if you have the $$$ then I would suggest to go with light weight aluminum pole tent.

I gave this tent 4 stars because the tent description said that even a single person can put it up but I found it very hard to do it especially there is no way a single person can put the rainfly by himself. The tent is 7 foot hight at the center and the rainfly has to go over it. You have to put the rainfly on the ground flat first, put the poles in it and then lift it and put it on top of tent. It is a huge rainfly and if its windy it is almost impossible for a single person to do it.

Overall I am glad that I purchased this tent. However at I paid $210 for this tent and not it is selling for $174 :(. I would say it is a good deal.

We went through four different tents and this one was by far the best to set up and the space available for everyone is great! My daughter’s favorite part are the cup holders and shelves just her size.

We looked around at a number of family tents. We purchased one and found that it was extremely difficult to set up in even the most minimal amount of wind. My wife and I are both experienced campers and hikers so we were surprised when we couldn’t get the tent up properly. We even borrowed a friend’s family tent and proceeded to rip the base the first time we tried to stretch the tent out to stake it.

This tent is different. It is logical to put up. Once up it is spacious. The first time we put it up only took ten or fifteen minutes (include the time to yell at our 1 year old and 3 year old to get off it or we can’t put it up). Internally it has some nice storage features (lots of little pockets and places to store items). I never thought any of that kind of stuff was usefull or necessary until trying to find where the diaper cream went amongst all of the sleeping bags. The tent has nice features without appearing loaded with gimmicks.

And here is the real clincher - the sack that the tent comes in actually fits the tent. Not like you have to bring a hydraulic press to squeeze it in - it actually fits. What a relief after a long weekend of camping. I have never written a review before but was moved enough by the quality of this product.

The only downside I can think of - the stakes included are the cheezy plastic variety that don’t always work in all soil types. And there is not a waterproof assembly instruction printed on the bag (always a nice touch but not needed here since assembly is so logical). Also the way the rain fly goes on is a bit odd (attaching the cross poles to the fly and THEN sliding it over the top).

But the downsides so pale in comparison to the pluses. We are 100% satisfied so far!

We bought this tent to replace a similar Eureka tent that lasted more than 10 years. We love our new Eureka tent! We didn’t even use seam sealer, but it still stayed dry inside during rain on our recent camping trip.

The old tent had four main poles that connected to a center piece, and it was very easy to put up, even by one person. This new tent is just a little harder to put up because there are two very long main poles that arch across the top from corner to corner. We decided that the best process for putting it up was to first stake two corners on the same side of the tent. Then, with the tent flat, we put the two poles through the sleeves and attached them at the two staked corners. Next, the two of us each stood an an unstaked corner so we could simultaneously arch the two poles and fasten the other ends in place. Finally we staked down the third and fourth corner and the sides. Putting up the fly was a breeze.

The tent has a large window on each side, and the zippers worked smoothly! The cupholders and pockets are great, and there are little loops on the inside of seams so you can hang other stuff.

Work At Home Moms: Time Management Tips

How do you DO it?! If I had a dime for every time I heard that, I would be able to quit my home business.

Just kidding.

Seriously, time management is a serious issue for work from home Moms. You want your home business to be a success, but you don’t want the rest of your responsibilities to fall by the wayside…especially your children, who are the reason you chose to work from home in the first place.

While you’re probably already doing some of the obvious things like taking advantage of naptimes and bedtime, I hope you find some additional ideas from the following time management tips to make things easier for you while working from home and caring for young children.

Time Management for your Home Business

Have a clear purpose when you go online

Whenever you go to your computer, have a definite purpose in mind. It helps to keep a notebook by your computer always with your goals and to-do lists in it, all in once place. This helps prevent you from aimlessly checking email or surfing the net and getting lost. Know what you need to accomplish, write it down, do it, and move on to the next activity.

Outsource as many tasks as you can afford Consider hiring a virtual assistant if you have a lot of administrative tasks. Or pay your kids to do things for you that are age appropriate. This can even be a tax deductible expense. Check with your accountant.

Analyze your activities

Think about the steps you engage yourself in with your business and see if those tasks are really paying off for you. A lot of work at home Moms do things like join safelists, traffic exchanges and other activities that most internet marketing experts agree are not the best use of your time. Ask people who are where you want to be in your business how they manage their time. Just because something is free doesn’t mean you should be spending time doing it.

The best $20 you can spend on your business

That may be the money you spend hiring a Mommy’s helper to come over and play with your children for several hours. It’s amazing what you can get done during that time. Plus, your kids usually get worn out from all the fun and take longer naps. Everybody wins!

Think Assembly Line

In other words, group similar activities together. Don’t check your email all day, check it two or 3 times a day (at most) and answer all the emails at the same time. When you want to make changes to your website, list them all and wait until you need to make several changes at once. When one child asks for a story gather them all around. Same thing for snacks. Run all your errands at once.

Utilize Technology

Get wireless internet and a laptop if at all possible. This can make a drastic improvement in your ability to work online around your children. You can sit on the front porch and work on your website while your kids play in the yard. Or you can drop them off at a friend’s house and head to Starbucks and get online!

Use autoresponders, mailing lists and other resources to automate your business. If you find yourself typing out answers to the same questions over and over again, add pages to your website or create an ecourse or downloadable report that addresses those topics and refer your customers or downline or whomever to those.

Household time management

Simplify meal preparation and shopping

That doesn’t mean you spend a lot of extra money on convenience foods that aren’t good for you. But do make simple meals that even your children can help you prepare. Use your crock pot. Collect recipes that require few ingredients and no elaborate preparation.

Have a good routine for making menus and shopping. In the long run, extra trips to the store for that missing ingredient is costing you time and money. Most families eat the same 10 or so favorite dishes over and over. Enlist the help of your family to figure out what those favorites are, print up the ingredients into a shopping list, and take that to the store. Have the list posted on the fridge to mark things off as they’re used up.

Get your kids to help out around the house more. Here are more work from home Mom house cleaning tips

General Mom time management tips

Identify time wasters in your day

It’s a different thing for everyone. Maybe it’s the TV, maybe it’s friends calling to chat in the middle of the day. Maybe it’s activities that seem necessary but that really aren’t productive, like posting a lot in message forums. Whatever it is, identify it and eliminate it if possible, or at least manage it. Use your voicemail, and call people back when it’s a better time for you. Figure out if watching Oprah or the Apprentice is really adding value to your life or just wasting your time.

Make a timer your best friend

A timer has so many uses. You can set it to tell your child when you’ll be available for them. Young children have difficulty comprehending time, and the timer will set them at ease so they won’t bug for you that entire period.

It also keeps you on track and helps you finish up tasks more quickly. Use it when you’re reading email, cleaning house, whenever you want to accomplish something fast.

Have a Routine

Having a routine for your household chores and business activities can really help Moms with time management. When you have a good routine, you can do things without thinking, and they always take up less time that way. Keep your routines written down until they’re memorized. Use an organizing calender or digital system…whatever works best for you. Make sure everyone else in your household knows the basics of your routine so that things flow more smoothly.

Set limits

No one person can do everything. Your time and energy is valuable and you need to be firm in setting limits on how you spend it. Don’t commit to things that you can’t reasonably accomplish. Get enough rest. Learn to say No. Avoid negative people who like to whine.

As Moms we’re constantly working on time management, but with creativity and good routines, we can have a thriving business and a balanced life.

Expert Tips To Take The Stress Out Of Entertaining

After over twenty-five years of entertaining at home both as a single person and coupled, I have some ways to take the stress out of having people into my home. It’s easy in the beginning to focus on food and drink to create the wow factor of having guests over for dinner, but in the end it’s the people that make for enjoyable times. I’ve been to friends, relatives or business associates homes where fabulous food was over whelmed by the lack of mixing the right guests, stressed-out hosts or hostesses, and too little or too much liquor. Finding the right recipe for entertaining is easy.

-Invite the right amount and mix of people. Invite a couple or a single that you really enjoy being around, this will help keep you smiling no matter what happens. Bring together people that have something in common, that creates conversation beyond what do you do, the children, and the house. I like groups of eight to ten, that way if some are quiet, it isn’t a party killer.

-Start planning your dinner party eight weeks out, send out invites six weeks before. People are extremely busy today, to get on their calendar you need long lead times.

-Skip the Internet web site group invitation route. From what I’ve heard people don’t like disclosing why they can’t make a party publicly or having invitees shop the guest list before they commit.

-Query potential guests by email. Ask if they are available on a specific date. Then send snail mail invitations, people love to get mail that isn’t bills, plus it sets a tone for your dinner party. Request in writing an RSVP by a specific date, typically a week before the party date. The RSVP answer should be yes or no, maybes don’t work in entertaining, find different guests.

-The key to having a stress-free event is to plan and prepare in advance of the party day. Take an inventory and create lists of food, beverages, flowers, candles, music, glassware and dinnerware that you have and what you’ll need.

-Do your major shopping 3-5 days before entertaining. I’ll guarantee you’ll go at least a couple more times, but for little things. You’ll feel better the more organized you are.

-Forget doing repainting or decorating projects on deadline with your party, you’ll be grumpy from the self imposed pressure.

-Cook and prepare as much of the food before the party so you can spend time with your guests. Find make-ahead recipes. Keep food simple, with minimal last-minute preparation. I like dishes that can coast while guests finish conversations or arrive late from traffic or other issues. Flexibility is a life saver.

-Set the table 2 days before the event. You’ll enjoy the time to tweak the pretty picture your dishes, stemware, flowers, and candles set.

-Locate a beverage station away from the dining table and food preparation area. I think of this as a gathering zone, so find a hospitable place. Make the bar self contained so there is no running back and forth to the kitchen. Remember a trash can, cork screw, cocktail napkins, stir sticks, ice bucket, coolers for refrigerated drinks like beer and soda. If you have left over flowers from the dining table, place in a bud vase to zip up the bar.

-I’m a big fan of moving the party from room to room during the event. If you like to have people in the kitchen or assisting in food preparation, bring in a couple of chairs to send the signal that your guests are welcome in the kitchen. Serve dinner in the dining room and have dessert in the living room. Different spaces set tones that can help transition your party.

-If conversation gets slow, have some topics in mind to spark new interest. Movies, books, and cool web sites are good safe topics. Stay away from politics and religion, they’re dangerous social territory.

-Music is a must, it can really energize a party and change a guests mood from sulky to spunky. It also creates some filler when one conversation ends and before a new one gets going.

-If guests linger at the end it’s a good sign of a successful party. Don’t allow intoxicated guests to drive home.

Did not need to fear where I went. 3 months in a country using holes in the ground without having to stress my bladder! I am telling you this is worth the money, the peace of mind and the trying to hold it to the next stop. I was in a country where squatting to pee is the norm, Freshette saved the day. It is a discreet and perfect traveling companion. After 1 week of using it, all my friends knew about the benefits of my new best friend. This product is a must-have for every female who travels, or who often finds herself without adequate bathroom facilities.

Review date : 2009-01-07
It was too bulky for what I was looking for, which was a sleek design to carry in my bag. The disposable bag was a ziplock basically. It was also twice as expensive as a comparable product that I found later on the internet. And I have returned it 2 weeks ago and have not been compensated for it.

Review date : 2009-01-06
My husband and I have really gotten into hiking, however I would always limit the duration of the hike because of the fear of having to go to the bathroom outdoors. Some of the trails we go to have alligators in the area, and I’m really too scared to wander too far into the brush. This product is the answer. I can finally pee standing up! LOL…what a concept.

I just got the product today and with great trepidation decided to give it a whirl. I stood over the toilet (clearly expecting to make a mess of the bathroom and my shorts), pulled the leg of my shorts off to the side, did the same thing with my underwear, put the Freshette in place and let loose! Didn’t spill a drop…amazing. I’m probably getting too detailed, but I know that I appreciate details when I’m reading reviews. If you wear a pantyliner wiping isn’t really necessary. I know this sounds gross, but if you’re out on a trail and your hot, sweaty and dirty…it doesn’t really matter. Rinse the Freshette with some water, wrap it in a papertowel and place it in a ziplock and clean it when you get home. I also think that if you wear loose, baggy shorts you can just pull them aside with the least hassle. I haven’t tried them with tighter pants/shorts yet, but I imagine that with some practice it will be just as easy. You can really urinate without showing any skin or having to squat in some unsightly fashion.

Review date : 2008-12-01
I’ve used these things for the past 20 years - hiking, whitewater canoeing, and biking. I even bought my drysuit with a men’s relief zipper in the front so I can wear men’s style long john pants, although it’s esp. handy when just wearing shorts in the summer. I have a small zippered bag that I store it in, along with a clean sandwich baggie (for after it’s used) and a small bottle of Purell. The Purell’s only needed on a two-pee trip!

Review date : 2008-09-18
I just went on a trip and didn’t need to use it. But knowing it was there let me venture out a bit further than I might have. I’ve tested it and it does seem to work. The tube is a separate piece if you were wondering like I was. So it does fit in my fanny pack for hiking. The "travel pouch" is only a zip-lock bag (about 8 1/4 x 4 3/8) with printing and diagrams on the outside so I need to find a better way to keep it private, store it damp and store it dry.

Self Improvement Enthusiasts Storm Hotel In Atlanta

I hope you’re having a fantastic week. If you’re not, then just hang in there. When you keep doing ‘the right thing’, you’re bound to meet with success.

It’s Natural Law.

Keep this in mind though: things work out according to the good of everyone, not just you. Excessive pushing or trying to force your way into greater success only delays things even more.

So, do your best to relax and know that whatever area of your life you’re working on right now (dealing with debt, improving your marriage, wanting to change careers, finding your own voice…)

Whatever area it is…success is already YOURS.

You just have to keep watering the seeds you’ve already planted; give them love and attention every day..then watch for the results to show themselves.

We ‘Claimed Our Power’ With Jim Rohn, Bob Proctor and Others While In Atlanta

The ‘Claim Your Power Now’ seminar this past weekend at the Sheraton in Atlanta was just POWERFUL.

Laura and I had a chance to share some time with Jim Rohn (Anthony Robbins’ mentor); as Jim recalled a pivotal moment in his life when he had ‘turned the corner’. He was 25 when he realized a wealth formula…when he was shown that you actually can increase your income by 10-fold, and then by 10-fold again, and again!

Do you know there are people, right now as I write this, that are making $125,000 AN HOUR? Mindboggling but true.

If you’re increasing your income by 3% once or twice a year, then you unfortunately are on the WRONG track and it’s going to take you a hundred years to reach your goals.

And it’s not just about the money either: if you have the mindset to be receiving 3% pay raises, it’s very possible you have that same mindset in your relationships and other areas of your life too.

Every multimillionaire I know recommends the same book as being key to their road to success: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

So if you haven’t read it, I highly recommend you get a copy on eBay or Amazon for a few bucks. If you already read it several times, read it again. Why not?

Reading is just a part of the success formula, though. You also need to ’speak your future into existence’, as my good friend John Di Lemme says. Express your goals and dreams in the here and now…because the power of the word can get you to where you want to be…and fast.

Then of course, there’s my all-time favorite:

ACTION!

Face a fear, take an action, make something happen today.

Will you probably get butterflies in your stomach? You can almost count on it. Will it be worth it?

DEFINITELY.

By the way, have you ever heard the expression, the sky’s the limit?

Well it is: but only if you let it be! Why not aim even higher? Aim as high as you like. But remember:

* To make a thousand sales, you have to make the first one.

* To have more love in your life, you have to choose one more act of love than you did yesterday.

* To be able to live your dreams, you have to first DECIDE to live them…not someone else’s like we sometimes do.

* To have more free time, you have to allow other people to help you and take over some of your time consuming tasks.

Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, Jay Abraham, Dan Kennedy and Bob Proctor, among many others, all had to travel down the success path and face challenges along the way.

My recommendation? Get around someone who is further along than you. Invite them out to lunch, interview them, pay them for mentoring. Do whatever it takes to ensure your own success.

Ok, here’s a million dollar success secret for you: whenever you can, ask people of achievement, What can I do to help you?

Because helping others is the fastest way to success.

Sincerely,

Keith Matthew and Laura Roman Lopez

I go to a lot of music festivals, and used this tent for two years before I had any issues with it. It is easy to put up and take down, and it doesn’t take up a lot of space in the trunk. The screened vents are very nice when the weather is a bit too warm. However, I was asleep in this tent at a music festival when Hurricane Ike hit Arkansas. Water-proof my bum. Everything in my tent was completely soaked, including myself. But the only damage to the tent was a ripped pole guide, and I can sew that back on easily. So if you’re planning on going camping where the weather might turn violent, this is not the best tent. Otherwise, great product for the price. Just don’t go camping in hurricanes.

Review date : 2008-12-12
I picked up this tent, because I have been doing a lot of car camping lately with my lady friend and my old tent was a little cramped for both of us and various sundries. When I first set the tent up in my flat, I realized the thing IS HUGE! Setup was a snap and takedown just as easy. It has room for a king size inflatable with room to spare. We had a king size inflatable, day packs, cooler, and a couple smaller bags…and still had plenty of space left. It’s a great tent. For rthw price, I wasn’t really expecting it to be so nice. My only complaints are that it doesn’t compact very well. I can barely fit it in m pack and the second is that it’s heavy. Not recommended for any hike or walk in camping, but is fantastic for car camping or of you need a tent for multiple small kids.

This was a birthday gift for my 9 year old grandson. Well, the first one came with a hole in it but Amazon was great and sent me a free shipping label to send it back and shipped out a new one immediately. It came very quickly and in time for my grandson’s birthday. He absolutely loves it. It was easy to set up, they put a blow up mattress in it and it fit perfectly. He had friends over to sleep out in the backyard three nights in a row. They played games (by flashlight)told stories and had a blast. My daughter said it’s great for two adults but three would be a little tight, especially with the mattress but next year my son-in-law will take my grandson to the state park and it will be perfect for the two of them. It has been great fun and cost less than some electronic toy. Also better than those "kid" tents that are OK in the house but blow away outside.

Four Paths To Finding Peace

If you cannot find peace within yourself, you will never find it anywhere else. Marvin GayeHow can I find peace? we ask. Marvin Gaye is correct - if you don’t find it within, you won’t find it without. Peace is a calm confidence. Spiritual peace can be freedom from conflict and contention or comfort given by the Spirit of God which brings assurance and serenity. The dictionary definition states that peace is a state of tranquility or quiet, freedom from disquieting thoughts or emotions, and harmony in personal relations. There several are ways to obtain peace now. One is in simplifying your life. The less you have about you the easier it is to live an unencumbered life. There is less to worry over and keep track of and clean. Your space will feel more open and you will find it easier to think. When I am in a clean open space, my spirit is lifted. It is harder to create a clean open space when you have a lot of unnecessary things. We do not need everything we want. Wouldn’t it be great if there were a huge library of more than just books. Often when we see something new what we really want is just to try it out and play with it for awhile. For now, the closest thing is to borrow and lend between friends. You can also ask for perishable goods when people want to give gifts, like flowers. These enhance your home, but don’t require permanent space and they can be given again and again.

Since peace has a lot to do with freedom, eliminating debt is another piece to obtaining it. Pay off everything you can so you are not indebted to someone. Interest never sleeps and debt is a type of bondage. It can control you and ruin your life. Some debt cannot be avoided ? such as a mortgage or in some cases student loans. The key is to avoid unnecessary debt. Simplifying your wants and your way of living will help you here. Being free of dept gives you a lot of peace. Use those credit cards for emergencies only.

A third path to peace involves being prepared. If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear. (Doctrines and Covenants 38:30) Save enough money so you can survive for at least 3 months should you become unemployed. Create a food storage to last as long. Secure your home against whatever natural calamities are common in your area. Have a plan for what to do in an emergency - who to call, where to go, what to take. Something to start with in this area would be a 72 hour kit - a backpack with all necessities (including some comfort food and activities) to last 72 hours. Then keep it in your car and keep your gas tank half full.

Finally, get in touch with God. He can give you a peace to surpass all others. No matter what trial you face, no matter what confronts you, if you build a strong relationship with Him and keep his commandments no evil can prevail against you: let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail. (Doctrines and Covenants 6:34, see also Helaman 5:12)

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

Recently I started walking 2-3 miles three times a week to supplement my gym exercise and aerobics. I had seen people walking with poles and I was impressed with their energy and graceful movement. After doing some research about the effectiveness of the poles, I decided to get a pair for both my husband and me. There is a wide variety of features and price tags. I wanted cork handles to help manage sweaty palms, hand straps to secure poles to my hands, easy adjustment, quality construction and durability, reasonable price. These poles had it all PLUS a bag to carry them in, extra "feet" to attach on varied terrain, and — most importantly — a GREAT PRICE. The poles are exactly as advertised and I have gotten used to using them. They are supposed to help burn at least 20% more calories during my walk. Burn, babies, burn!

Benefits Of Speed Reading

Obviously few people want to undertake the task of learning a new skill, such as speed reading, if there is no direct benefit. Life?s just too short.

So, what are the direct and indirect benefits of learning to speed read? The answer to this question very much depends at what stage in your life you are at. Here are some to consider:

High school / pre-college students

High school, pre-college, students are normally considered to be primary target groups for a speed reading programs. Basically, the reason why such students are seen as ideal candidates is because they at an age where they can still absorb new ideas without too onerous consideration ? an important facet with learning to speed read.

Another upside to teaching high school students to speed read is the fact that they can take in far more information from their greater reading skills. Also, with advanced reading skills, students should also be able to comprehend more of what they are reading. Furthermore, with potentially the toughest period of their lives ahead of them, so far as obtaining information from reading is concerned, learning to speed read at this time is seen as being extremely advantageous.

College students

If a college student has not learnt, for one reason or another, to speed read by the time they enter college, it is generally considered essential that they do so within their first year (along with learning short-hand!). Practically speaking, this is likely to be the busiest time of a person?s reading life. Moreover, students are often required to read huge amounts of materials, comprehend them, condense them and then comment on them. Having the ability to speed read is nothing short of a God-send skill.

Work employees

Even though you may not have learnt to speed read prior to entering the workforce, this doesn?t mean that you no longer need to learn speed reading. Consider this: three quarters of all the world?s reading materials (which includes every book and magazine ever written) is contained within the filing cabinets of offices! And, even in this electronic age, with data protection laws in place, we are still required to read vast amounts of information at work each year.

Learning to speed read will not only allow you to read quickly, with greater comprehension of the material, but it?ll also provide you with more time to be getting on with the other tasks in your daily working life!

Pleasure

Again, even if you are only reading for pleasure, the mere fact you have more chance of comprehending that romance novel if you have the skills at-hand that allow you to speed read should be sufficient to convince you of the value of learning this essential skill. Of course, pleasure reading is a lot more enjoyable than technical reading, so if you do have speed reading skills, this will allow you the chance to read even more of those books you always wanted to read, but didn?t have time for!

Language students

One final group that we should not overlook is ?English as a second language? students. Clinical evidence has shown that ESL students who have the ability to speed read have a far greater chance of comprehending the English language and are more inclined to stick to learning English. This is not to say, of course, that speed reading is the answer to all your English language problems, but it is an additional weapon to help you conquer the language barriers!

Conclusion

So, to sum up, it doesn?t really matter at what stage in your life you are at, provided that you read at anytime during the day, even if it is only the daily newspaper, you are likely to benefit from the skills acquired from learning to speed read. You are also likely to be able to comprehend more of the information you read. And, there?s every chance that because you understand and comprehend what you have read, your long-term memory will be able to retain this information for a future time. All-in-all, some very good reasons to learn speed reading now!
